World of Warcraft - Player Housing and Professions

Professions are going to be important!

Decor will be crafted by ALL existing non-gathering primary professions instead of creating a new profession solely dedicated to it.

  • Alchemy
  • Blacksmithing
  • Engineering
  • Jewelcrafting
  • Leatherworking
  • Tailoring
  • Enchanting
  • Inscription

Each profession will be able to craft a few pieces of appropriate decor from each expansion using that expansion’s version of the profession (e.g., to craft something from Mists of Pandaria, you will need the relevant Mists of Pandaria profession at the appropriate level.)

World of warcraft player housing professions

To craft something, players will need the required recipe and skill level and will also need to gather a new type of decor-crafting specific reagent per-expansion, as well as any required reagents from that expansion.

In general, like most profession-made goods, crafted decor can be traded to other players or sold on the Auction House. - There is a money-making opportunity!

Some examples of what some professions will be able to make:

  • Blacksmithing creates decor made primarily of metal
  • Enchanting creates magical decor like floating books or glowing orbs
  • Jewelcrafting creates decor like gems and gem-studded objects as well as being the designated stoneworking profession
Your professions and their levels from past expansions matter and so do some of the reagents from those expansions.

You know, just in case you were looking for something else to do between now and the launch of Housing . . .

World of Warcraft Player Housing - Legacy Reputation and Achievements

There has been a LOT of information from Blizzard about housing, so my goal is to condense the information into bite-sized pieces.

According to Blizzard, decor should come from everywhere and everything!

They want us to find decor rewards in all sorts of gameplay, not just a single avenue that we feel forced to interact with over and over. For example, while a specific jade-inlaid bookshelf might come from a particular quest in Pandaria, other bookshelves could come from vendors, professions or other forms of content.

world of warcraft player housing legacy reputation rewards

Finally all that past grind will be worth it!

These are the key points you need to know now:

  • If you’ve achieved something in the past, you will get the reward

  • If you raised your reputation to exalted with someone, you’ll be able to purchase their goods right away

  • If you completed an achievement 10 years ago that rewards a NEW piece of decor today , you’ll be granted that piece of decor on login

  • They are going to continue fleshing out decor from past expansions in future patches and they will be earnable via the appropriate content of their expansion

  • Decor rewards will be available for meta achievements from past expansions.
These three have been confirmed and I will be posting separate blog posts about each:
    - A World Awoken
    - Back from the Beyond
    - A Farewell to Arms

So what that means for players like me, is that we have time to catch up with the Exalted Reputation.
I plan on posting lots of information on how to max your legacy reputation, so we don't miss out on anything!

World of Warcraft - Player Housing - Endeavors and Neighbourhood Favor (Renown)

Endeavors are neighborhood-wide activities open to anyone who lives in the neighborhood.

Endeavors occur approximately once a month and provide the neighborhood an opportunity to learn from various cultures and factions of Azeroth, by completing different tasks. You will earn Neighbourhood Favor as well, which should yield some fun goodies!

Each Endeavor has a group of tasks that are collectively completed by the Neighborhood. As tasks are completed, more NPCs from that area show up, making various themed decorations available to the neighborhood inhabitants (or even visiting players from other Neighborhoods), and the Neighborhood changes visually to be decorated in that faction’s fashion.

The tasks themselves run the gamut of gameplay: from crafting to gathering, to questing, to completing dungeons or raids.

Successfully completing tasks not only yields rewards expected from that sort of task’s gameplay but also grants a new type of Endeavor currency, which is shared across all Endeavors, as well as Neighborhood Favor.

Neighborhood Favor is used to level up your house and earn rewards while the Endeavor currency is used to buy decorations from the visiting NPCs (in either your Neighborhood or in your friends’ Neighborhoods.)

Once enough tasks have been completed in an Endeavor, the entire Neighborhood is rewarded together, with bonus Endeavor currency and Neighborhood Favor, as well as the ability to purchase all the decorations at the NPC.

World of Warcraft - Player Housing - Neighbourhoods are Coming!

Neighbourhoods are coming to World of Warcraft and it sounds like a lot of fun!
There is a very long and detailed article on the Blizzard site about player housing and neighbourhoods, but I have summarised it below.

According to Blizzard, homes in World of Warcraft are separated into two neighborhood zones, Founder’s Point (for the Alliance) and Razorwind Shores (for the Horde).

World of warcraft player housing neighbourhood

Each Neighborhood is made up of roughly 50 plots of the same size, all of which contain a house.

  • They can be named by their owners and the names do not have to be unique (though they do have delimiters to differentiate them from one another).
  • Players control who can live in them. For guilds, this is via the Guild roster. If a guild removes someone, the player will also be removed from the Neighborhood.

Some plots are placed far away from everything for the hermits among us, while others are grouped together in small cul-de-sacs of two to three houses perfect for a small group of friends. Other houses are in larger groupings for folks looking for more hustle and bustle.

Similarly, there’s a variety of biomes in each zone, ranging from Founder’s Point’s spooky forests and autumnal farmland to the lush oases and windswept bluffs in Razorwind Shores.

Housing Organizations in Azeroth (HOA)

It’s not just a question of where you choose to live, but who you choose to live near, that’s important. And don’t worry, there aren’t actually any HOAs in WOW, unless players choose to implement them.

world of warcraft wow player housing neighbourhoods

Your neighbourhood can be customised, so you can work with other players to progress it together. I am really looking forward to this part of the expansion! Working with friends towards a collective goal is always a rewarding bonding experience!

world of warcraft wow player housing neighbourhoods

There are two types of Neighborhoods:

Public Neighborhoods – These are created as needed by the game servers and anyone can buy a house in them. As they fill up, new instances are created, so players looking for a house shouldn’t see a message about all the neighborhoods being full. Public Neighborhoods are run by the game as well.

world of warcraft wow alliance player housing neighbourhoods

Private Neighborhoods – These are created and owned by players, either by Guilds as Guild Neighborhoods, or by arbitrary groups of players as Charter Neighborhoods.

I will be making a Swiftie Neighbourhood (In our WOW era!) so if that sounds like somewhere you'd like to live, please let me know.

World of Warcraft - Keyboard Shortcut for Transmog Collectors

If you're new(ish) to WOW, you may not know this very handy keyboard shortcut.

If you have a lot of clothes transmogs in your bag and you need to find that one piece you know is in there, this is the shortcut for you!

For example, you've used your guild cape to teleport to Stormwind and now you need to find your normal cape amidst all the stuff in your bag.

Open your character screen - letter C

Click the item slot on your character screen and the ALT key, and you'll see all the other options (ALTernatives) in your bag for that slot.

So handy!

World of Warcraft - Preview of Player Housing

Blizzard have released some new information about player housing, focusing on neighbourhoods and house exteriors.

I will be updating this blog later today, I'll break down all the information we've had so far into "easier to manage" chunks of information.

But in the meantime, my toon went to see her new house. ;)

World of Warcraft - I've Reached Level 80. Now What?

I've seen this question asked a lot recently, in Facebook groups and on Discord.

So you've reached level 80, you're in Dornogal and now you want to improve your gear.

I don't run mythics or raids, except Timewalking, and I've somehow managed to get 8 toons to item level 638 or higher. My highest 2 are 654 and 653.

This guide will cover my strategy. It's not a step-by-step guide by any means, but there are lots of reliable walkthrough guides available online.

This strategy doesn't include anything in Undermine because I hate it there.

My strategy is broken up into these parts - they are not listed in any particular order:

1 - The Vault

2 - Worldsoul - World Quests

3 - Timewalking

- Khaz Algar Weekly Quests
    - Spreading the Light, Hallowfall Arathi
    - Theatre Troupe - Isle of Dorn
    - Awakening the Machine, Gundargaz, The Ringing Deeps
    - Forge a Pact, Azj-Kahet

5 - Belt from Overcharged Delves - Durable Information Securing Container

6 - Ring from Siren Isle - Cyrce's Circlet

7 - Hallowfall - Nightfall Scenarios

8 - Upgrading Gear

1 - The  Vault
The vault is a really important part of gearing up, so make sure you check it every week after reset!
Completing the activities in this plan will unlock vault slots, which will either give you gear, or tokens to buy valorstones and runes used for upgrading gear.

You'll find the vault at the back of the bank in Dornogal, just click it and wait for the treasures!
There's an Earthen vendor next to the vault, he exchanges the tokens for runes and valorstones.

2 - Worldsoul - World Quests
This is a really simple way to earn gear, you just need to complete world quests around Khaz Algar.
I always check Dornogal first as there are often world quests right in town! There are some world quests that offer gear as rewards so always check the rewards by clicking on the star icons on your world map.

Once you've completed the quests, return to Dornogal, hand it in and receive an awesome chest of goodies, or sometimes even 2!

3 -  Timewalking

If Timewalking (TW) is on while you're reading this, you're in luck!

Timewalking is AWESOME!

The quest giver is in Dornogal, you'll need to complete five TW dungeons. There may also be a quest to do a Timewalking raid, which will give you extra gear.

To join a TW group, use your dungeon finder at the bottom right hand side of your screen.

Warcraft, Group Finder, Dungeons, Raids, PVP, World Bosses,

You'll receive gear with item level 610 in the dungeons, as well as chests with awesome goodies when you hand in the quest. You will also pick up LOADS of new transmog items.  It's a lot of fun.

4 - Khaz Algar Weekly Quests

There are four main weekly quests in Khaz Algar (The War Within), in each of the areas.
I've listed them in no particular order.

- Spreading the Light - Hallowfall Arathi

Light four flames in Hallowfall, using radiant gems. You may need to kill mobs to get them, or you can find some on the ground in the area. Teaming up with other people is a good idea for this one!
Once you have 12 radiant gems, just click on each flame pot 3 times to finish the quest. The flame pots are not difficult to find if you fly around.

Warcraft, Hallowfall, Spreading the Light

Theatre Troupe - Isle of Dorn

This world quest is really fun! It's located just outside of Dornogal and takes around 10 minutes to complete. It starts on the hour, every hour.
Click on the quest giver and wait for instructions!
You'll receive a few chests from completing this scenario.

- Awakening the Machine - Ringing Deeps
I have to confess this is one of my least favourite activities in WOW, but we can't love them all, right?
Click the quest giver and enter the instance, where you kill things while trying to keep him alive. Don't worry if you die, you don't start from scratch.

Warcraft, Ringing Deeps, Awakening the Machine

- Forge a Pact - Azj-Kahet
This one is very simple. Visit the quest giver in the Weaver's Lair and choose a pact. Complete enough world quests to fill the bar and receive a nice reward.

5 - Belt from Overcharged Delves - Durable Information Securing Container

Delves are a great way to get gear, valorstones and crests to upgrade gear.
Delve HQ is in Dornogal, and most of the quests are with Brann.
However, there is another quest giver who offers an incredible belt, which is not difficult to get. Once you have the belt, you can do the quest again to upgrade it until level 701.

The quest requires you to complete any OVERCHARGED DELVE, but you can do it on Tier 1.

6 - Ring from Siren Isle -  Cyrce's Circlet

Siren Isle is a lot of fun and there's some very cute transmog items for sale.
There's also a ring from one of the quest givers, which has a starting level of 639 and can be upgraded to 658, through completing quests.

The road to Siren Isle starts in Dornogal.

Warcraft, Dornogal, Cyrce's Circlet, Dawn

The blimp is just on the outskirts of Dornogal and the quest giver is inside the blimp.

Once you are on Siren Isle, head for the quest giver, Bargus. Keep completing his quests to upgrade the ring.

Also check out the transmog seller who is sitting on a beach chair near the transport blimp back to Dornogal. He's got a bikini for sale!

Once you have completed the quest string once and have the ring on one toon, you can skip it on all the others and pick up the ring immediately.

Warcraft, Cyrce's Circlet, Siren Isle

7 - Hallowfall - Nightfall Scenarios

This event is one of my favourite activities, the transmogs are just gorgeous!

It takes place in Western Hallowfall, near Meraldar and starts on the hour, every hour. There are 4 quests to complete, the main one takes place right near the quest giver, and the others aren't too far away.

The rewards from this are fantastic. You'll receive high level gear during the scenarios, as well as a crystal to use at the vendors. One crystal buys one piece of gear.

There are two sellers, they are sometimes quite well hidden amongst the crowd. They sell item level 636 champion gear.

I strongly recommend this activity for all your alts. A lot of the gear is warbound, so it's a great way to collect gear for your alts, just store it in the warbank until they are ready.

8 - Upgrading Gear

I have to admit that I find the process of upgrading gear complicated and a bit confusing.
However, you can upgrade your gear at Cuzolth, near the bank in Dornogal, using valorstones and runes, collected from the activities in this guide and higher level delves.
It will get to a point where you will have to stop upgrading your gear, or get into mythics. Good luck with that!
Valorstones are warbound, so you can transfer them between toons.
You can buy runes and valorstones from the guy at the vault, so make sure you check the runes you need before buying from him!
